Check whether an asset fits The Trade Desk

5 stepsUpdated 13 Oct 2026

Steps

Tick a step’s number when it’s done. We’ll remember where you were.

  1. Open Creative Library and select the asset.

  2. Under Properties, check its Format, Dimensions, File size and Ratio.

  3. Under , read each placement it fits. Eligible means it matches; Check lists what doesn’t.

  4. If it fits none, the check says it “Doesn’t fit any TTD placement”. Re-export the file at one of the listed sizes and upload it again.

  5. If the details look wrong or processing failed, press Re-scan to process the file again.

When it worked

The asset sits in the matching category, such as CTV Launch, OLV or Display.

If something goes wrong

  • The asset is in Unsorted.

It failed processing, still needs review, fits no TTD placement, or doesn’t fit a channel its linked plan buys. Check its spec check, and press Re-scan if processing failed.

  • Nothing seems to happen after Re-scan.

Re-scan closes the drawer and processes the file again without a message. The card updates when it’s done.

  • A video shows Check instead of Eligible.

Its size fits but something else doesn’t, such as the codec: TTD CTV needs H.264. Re-export the video and upload it again.

How it works

Explainer: The platform spec check

Orbit checks each asset’s exact pixel size against The Trade Desk’s placement specs. A fit shows as Eligible, or as Check when the size fits but something else, such as the video codec, doesn’t.

The Trade Desk specs Orbit checks
SpecKindSizes
TTD CTVVideo1920×1080, H.264
TTD OLVVideo1920×1080 or 1280×720
TTD OLV-SqVideo1080×1080
TTD OLV 9:16Video1080×1920
TTD DisplayImage300×250, 300×600, 160×600, 970×250, 320×50
TTD Disp-LBImage728×90
  • Sizes must match exactly. A 1920×1080 H.264 video fits both TTD CTV and TTD OLV, and goes in the CTV Launch category.
  • File size and video length aren’t part of the check.
  • If an asset fits none of the specs, its drawer says it “Doesn’t fit any TTD placement”.
  • Open an asset to see its check under Platform spec check, with the reasons for any Check.

Explainer: Categories, tags and processing

After upload, Orbit processes each file and sorts it into a category from its size and format: CTV Launch, OLV, Display or Unsorted. Archived assets sit under Archived.

A chip shows only when it has assets, with its count beside it.

Category chips
ChipWhat’s in it
All assetsEverything that isn’t archived.
CTV LaunchVideos that pass the TTD CTV spec.
OLVVideos that pass an OLV spec but not CTV.
DisplayImages that pass a display spec.
UnsortedAssets that failed processing, still need review, fit no TTD spec, or don’t fit a channel their linked plan buys.
ArchivedArchived assets only.
  • Grey tags describe the file: “video” or “image”, “banner” for an image that fits a display size, and “vertical” for anything taller than it is wide.
  • Other tags show in purple.
  • While files are processing, the library checks every few seconds and updates the cards. In Table view, the Status column shows where each file is, such as analyzing, ready or failed.
  • Assets a client uploaded from their portal carry a “client” badge.
