Choose what each client sees in their portal, and set your agency’s branding and taxonomy.

At a glance

Where in Orbit
Sidebar › Manage › Settings
Who can use it
Everyone at your agency can open Settings. Agency Owners, Admins and Managers change Client Navigation and Taxonomy. Only Owners and Admins change Branding.

What it’s for

Settings has three tabs. Client Navigation chooses which sections each client sees in their portal. Branding holds your agency logo and the brand kit Orbit’s AI uses for decks and reports. Taxonomy sets the naming rules for the campaigns, ad groups and creatives Orbit builds.

Open it from Settings under Manage in the sidebar, or from the menu under your name at the bottom of the sidebar. Both open the same page.

Client Navigation works one client at a time, and each switch saves the moment you flip it. Taxonomy and most of Branding save only when you press their save buttons.

Two parts of Branding, pulling a brand from a website and Report templates, appear only where Orbit has switched on Mission Control and AI Reports for your agency. Your agency’s name can only be changed by Orbit.

How it works

Explainer: Who can change each part of Settings

Everyone at your agency can open Settings. Owners, Admins and Managers choose what clients see; only Owners and Admins change branding.

Agency Owners, Admins and Managers can change Taxonomy. It has no view-only mode: anyone who can open it can edit it.

On Branding, everyone else sees your logo and brand kit with the note “Only Agency Owners and Admins can update branding.” The fields are greyed out and the save buttons are hidden.

Your agency’s name isn’t in Settings. Only Orbit can change it.

Explainer: Client Navigation: what each switch does

Each switch shows or hides one section of a client’s portal. Turning a section off removes it from their sidebar and stops its pages opening, except Dashboard, which only loses its link.

The Client Navigation switches, in on-screen order
SwitchStartsWhen it’s off
DashboardOnHides the sidebar link only. Clients still land on their dashboard after signing in.
Media PlansOffHides the link. Their plans can’t be opened or approved.
ReportsOnHides the link. Their reports can’t be opened.

Talk to Your DataOnTheir data chat stops working. It never has a sidebar link.
  • Settings are per client. There’s no all-clients switch and no agency-wide default.
  • Each switch saves when you flip it. There’s no Save button.
  • The client sees the change the next time a page loads in their portal.
  • The portal’s Settings link is always shown. It has no switch.
  • It changes the client portal only. Your team’s sidebar stays the same.
  • Clients can’t change these themselves.

Explainer: What’s in the brand kit, and what uses it

The brand kit holds your logos, colours, fonts, conventions and writing guidelines. Orbit’s AI uses it when it builds decks and reports. It doesn’t change the colours of Orbit or your clients’ portal.

Decks can only be set in the fonts Orbit has installed: Inter, Roboto, Carlito, Liberation Sans, DejaVu Sans, Montserrat, Open Sans, Lato, Noto Sans, Caladea, Liberation Serif, DejaVu Serif, Noto Serif, Liberation Mono and DejaVu Sans Mono. Pick the closest, and record your real font under Custom…; that’s for reference only.

The parts of the brand kit
SectionWhat you set
LogosReverse (on dark), Mark and Favicon. Your main logo is the Agency Logo above the kit.
ColoursPrimary, Secondary, Accent, Ink and Surface as hex codes, plus Chart series colours in order.
TypographyA Heading, Body and Mono face, from the fonts decks can use.
ConventionsDate format, Currency, Week starts and Decimals.
GuidelinesFree text: tone, banned words, how to name things.
Deck & report templatesBranded .pptx, .docx or .xlsx files for Orbit to fill.
  • Logos save as soon as you upload them. Everything else saves only when you press Save brand kit.
  • Logo slots take the same files as the agency logo: PNG, JPG, WebP or SVG up to 2 MB.
  • A colour must be a hex code with its #, such as #1B6556. Anything else shows “Not a hex code”.
  • Leave Chart series empty and charts use Orbit’s default colours.
  • The Live preview is an approximation. The real deck is rendered by Orbit when it’s built.

Explainer: What Pull brand does

Pull brand reads a public website and proposes colours, a chart palette, fonts, logos and guidelines for your brand kit. Nothing is saved until you accept it, field by field.

It’s on the Branding tab only where Orbit has switched on Mission Control and AI Reports for your agency. Without it, fill the kit in by hand.

  • It reads public websites only, on the standard web ports (80 and 443). Internal addresses and addresses with a username or password in them are refused.
  • The card shows “Reading {your site}…” while it works. Cancel stops it.
  • When it finishes, Proposed from your site opens. Only the fields you tick are saved.
  • A field you leave unticked when you accept isn’t offered again unless the site changes.
  • Pulling also records the address as your agency’s website.
  • If a pull is already running for your kit, Orbit shows that one instead of starting another.

Explainer: Report templates and brand templates

Branding has two kinds of template. Report templates are the PowerPoint deck Orbit builds monthly reports from. Deck & report templates are brand templates for Orbit’s other deck reports.

  • A report template is used only after its sample deck passes the check. Putting one in use replaces the one before it.
  • No deck of your own? Use Orbit’s layout builds Orbit’s standard deck in your brand kit’s colours and logo. A template you upload always wins over it.
  • A slot is the exact name of a shape in the file. Orbit fills each slot when it builds.
  • Brand template statuses read “Ready to use · N slots on N slides”, “Needs setup · N slots found on N slides”, “Needs setup · not scanned yet” or “No fillable fields found in this file”.

Explainer: Taxonomy: your naming rules

Taxonomy is your agency’s naming standard. Orbit’s build agent reads it to name campaigns, ad groups and creatives and to fill in UTM parameters. A client can have its own rules without changing anyone else’s.

Names have three levels: Campaign, Ad Group and Creative.

Orbit starts you with seeded rules. Campaign names are advertiser, campaign, channel and platform. Ad group names are tactic, an optional audience, and region. Creative names are advertiser, campaign, concept and an optional version, joined with _ in lower case.

The seeded UTMs fill utm_source from platform, utm_medium from channel and utm_campaign from the campaign name, all required, plus utm_term from audience and utm_content from concept.

The five sections of Taxonomy
SectionWhat it holds
DimensionsNamed tokens such as advertiser, channel or region, each at one level, with their allowed values.
Naming PatternsThe tokens in each level’s name, in order, each required or optional.
UTMsWhat fills each UTM parameter: a dimension or the campaign name.
LinterThe delimiter, casing, maximum length and a regex names should match.
Agent ContractThe resolved rules the agent reads, shown read-only.
  • Rules come in three layers: Orbit’s seed, your agency default, and a client’s override. The most specific wins.
  • In Editing, pick Global (Agency default) to change the agency default, or a client to override it for that client only.
  • Saving stores only what differs from the layer above. Items set for the client you’re editing show an overridden badge.
  • Edits save only when you press Save.
  • Taxonomy also drives creative names and helps Pacing read region and audience from names.

Explainer: The sidebar and your user menu

Every agency role sees the same sidebar. Three items appear only where Orbit has switched them on for your agency: Mission Control, Goals and Marketing Mix Modeling.

  • Your role doesn’t hide sidebar items. Some pages limit what you can change instead; Team, for example, is view-only for Managers and Specialists.
  • The menu under your name shows your email, then Profile, Settings, Getting Started and Logout.
  • Settings in that menu opens your agency’s Settings, the same page as the sidebar item.
  • Inside a campaign in Command Center, the sidebar shows that campaign. All campaigns takes you back.
  • The moon or sun button at the top right switches between light and dark. Dark mode and a collapsed sidebar are remembered in this browser only.
  • On a narrow screen, under 1024 pixels wide, the sidebar opens from the menu button at the top left.
  • There’s no search bar or command palette. Escape closes menus and the narrow-screen sidebar.
