Steps

Tick a step’s number when it’s done. We’ll remember where you were.

  1. Under the answer, press Copy. It changes to Copied for a moment.

  2. If the answer has a table of numbers, press Export CSV to download it as data.csv.

  3. To see the table as a chart, press View chart. Hide chart closes it.

When it worked

The text is on your clipboard, or data.csv is in your downloads.

If something goes wrong

  • There’s no Export CSV button.

It appears only when the answer has a table of numbers with at least two columns and two rows. Ask for a table, such as “spend by campaign last 30 days”.

  • The file has only one of the answer’s tables.

Export CSV downloads the first table of numbers in the answer. Ask for the other table on its own to export it.

  • The copied text has symbols like | and **.

Copy takes the answer as written, with its formatting marks. Use Export CSV for tables.

How it works

Explainer: What Data chat can answer, and where answers come from

Data chat answers from the same synced performance data as your clients’ reports. Questions about your setup come from Orbit’s own records, and a few kinds of question need the platform itself.

Where each kind of answer comes from
You ask aboutData chat answers from
Spend, clicks, conversions, revenue and other resultsOrbit’s synced performance data, the same data as performance reports.
Your setup: clients, connections, mapped accounts, sync statusOrbit’s own records, counted directly.
“Why” follow-ups about an earlier answerOnly the numbers already shown in the conversation.
Today’s numbersThe platform directly, where it can be queried. Otherwise complete days only.
Age, gender, device, placement, location, keyword or hourThe platform directly, where it can be queried. Otherwise it says it can’t.
HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack, Google Drive, monday.com or BigQueryThat source directly, since its data isn’t stored with your ad results.
Something it can’t pin downIt asks you what you meant, with options to pick.
  • Results can be split by date, platform, channel, account, campaign, ad group or ad set, creative and client.
  • Metrics are spend, impressions, clicks, conversions, revenue, leads and purchases. CTR, CPC, CPM, CPA and ROAS are worked out from the summed totals.
  • If the synced data has nothing for your period, Data chat says so. It never fills the gap with numbers from the platform, so it stays in line with the report.
  • Answers are read-only. Data chat never changes anything on a platform.
