Check your setup by asking Data chat

4 stepsUpdated 13 Oct 2026

Ask Data chat about your clients, connections, mapped accounts or sync status. It answers straight from Orbit’s records.

Steps

Tick a step’s number when it’s done. We’ll remember where you were.

  1. Open Data chat.

  2. Ask about your setup, for example “How many clients do we have?”, “Which platforms are we connected to?” or “Which ad accounts are mapped to Acme?”.

  3. To check freshness, ask “Is my data up to date?”. Data chat lists each connection with when it last synced.

  4. Fix anything it flags in Integrations, such as a connection that failed to sync.

When it worked

When every connection is fresh, Data chat says “All connections are up to date.”

If something goes wrong

  • Data chat says some connections failed to sync.

Open Integrations and hover Failed in the Last Sync column to read the error. Then reauthenticate the connection.

  • Data chat says some connections haven’t synced in over 24 hours.

Those connections are stale. Open each one from Integrations and check its Recent ETL Sync Jobs.

  • Orbit showsNo ad accounts are mapped yet.

Assign accounts to clients in Account Mapping.

  • Orbit showsYou don't have any active clients set up yet.

Add a client in Clients, or ask an Owner or Admin to give you access to yours in Team.

How it works

Explainer: What Data chat can answer, and where answers come from

Data chat answers from the same synced performance data as your clients’ reports. Questions about your setup come from Orbit’s own records, and a few kinds of question need the platform itself.

Where each kind of answer comes from
You ask aboutData chat answers from
Spend, clicks, conversions, revenue and other resultsOrbit’s synced performance data, the same data as performance reports.
Your setup: clients, connections, mapped accounts, sync statusOrbit’s own records, counted directly.
“Why” follow-ups about an earlier answerOnly the numbers already shown in the conversation.
Today’s numbersThe platform directly, where it can be queried. Otherwise complete days only.
Age, gender, device, placement, location, keyword or hourThe platform directly, where it can be queried. Otherwise it says it can’t.
HubSpot, Salesforce, Slack, Google Drive, monday.com or BigQueryThat source directly, since its data isn’t stored with your ad results.
Something it can’t pin downIt asks you what you meant, with options to pick.
  • Results can be split by date, platform, channel, account, campaign, ad group or ad set, creative and client.
  • Metrics are spend, impressions, clicks, conversions, revenue, leads and purchases. CTR, CPC, CPM, CPA and ROAS are worked out from the summed totals.
  • If the synced data has nothing for your period, Data chat says so. It never fills the gap with numbers from the platform, so it stays in line with the report.
  • Answers are read-only. Data chat never changes anything on a platform.

Explainer: What each sync status means

Each connection has a sync status: on the Dashboard’s Data sync card, and in short in the Last Sync column in Integrations. Synced means it finished a sync in the last 24 hours. Failed and Stale are the ones to act on.

Sync statuses on the Dashboard
StatusWhat it meansWhat to do
SyncedFinished a sync in the last 24 hours.Nothing.
SyncingA sync is running now.Wait for it to finish.
StaleIts last finished sync is more than 24 hours old.Open the connection and check its recent syncs.
FailedIts latest sync failed.Press Retry. If it fails again, reauthenticate.
Never syncedIt hasn’t synced yet, usually because no accounts are chosen.Choose its accounts.
  • The Last Sync column shows a time such as “3h ago”, Syncing…, Failed or Never. Hover Failed to read the error.
  • Errors are shown as the platform reported them, in the platform’s own words.
  • Sync health is the share of your connections that are Synced. Failed and Stale count as issues to review. Never synced lowers the percentage without counting as an issue.
  • The “Data updated” badge shows the oldest last sync among your Synced connections, so it’s only as fresh as your least fresh data.

Explainer: What assigning an account does

Each ad account belongs to one client. That decides whose dashboards, reports, pacing and Data chat answers its data appears in.

  • Until an account has a client, its data syncs but appears nowhere: not in dashboards, reports or Data chat.
  • An account can belong to one client only.
  • Assigning an account starts a sync straight away. Earlier days catch up as Orbit re-syncs them, up to 90 days back.
  • When you choose accounts on a connection, Suggested means Orbit pre-filled a client because its name appears in the account’s name. Nothing is saved until you save.
  • Find Accounts adds accounts already chosen on a connection that are missing from this list. It doesn’t fetch new accounts from the platform: to add those, open the connection from Integrations.
  • Re-check account names from Google/Meta refreshes names for every connection whose accounts you pick from a list, not only Google and Meta. Google Analytics, Shopify and Amazon Marketplace aren’t included.
